Procurement professionals wanted

Singapore - The global economic downturn has not dampened the recruitment of skilled procurement professionals, revealed a new study.

International recruitment consultancy Robert Walters recently published the Robert Walters Asia Job Index, which tracks advertisement volumes for professional positions across leading job boards and national newspapers in Hong Kong and Singapore.

The study found that despite a decline in job advertising in the third quarter, there was a continued demand for top level candidates. Companies are, however, becoming more selective about the roles for which they are hiring, preferring to hire more aggressive, sales-oriented personnel. As a result, there is no slack in demand in the procurement space, the study said.

Job seekers in the shipping and manufacturing sectors should also be cheered as the sectors are experiencing an increase in demand for top candidates, the study showed.
