Intermec appoints ECS as value-added distributor

Singapore - Intermec has appointed  ECS Computers (Asia) as its value-added distributor (VAD), to promote the supply chain software manufacturer's range of mobile computers, bar code printers and media solutions.

The distribution agreement will take effect in Singapore starting 8 October 2008 and could subsequently be extended to other Southeast Asian nations including Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia and the Philippines.

Jansen Ek, vice president and general manager of Intermec, Asia Pacific region, said, "We believe that the relationship is a highly synergistic one. ECS has an extensive channel partner and reseller base in both Singapore and the rest of South-east Asia, while Intermec has the strongest supply chain infrastructure and service offerings in the market."

ECS last year reported revenues of S$2.8 billion (US$1.9 billion), an increase of 19.2% from a year earlier. Commenting on that, Ek says, "Their capabilities, management strength and financial situation are sound and we are very honoured to have ECS as our VAD."

Sebastian Chong, president of ECS Computers (Asia), said, "We are delighted to partner with Intermec and believe that the partnership adds new a new dimension to our current enterprise offerings."

The partnership is intended to support ECS and Intemec's expansion into new markets.

With the addition of ECS as an Intermec VAD, the Intermec partner community can expect to enjoy industry-leading terms and superior turnaround, in product logistics, service and support.
