Talks to strengthen LNG procurement
Published: Nov 30, 2011 JAPAN SOUTH KOREA LNG GOVERNMENT Japan - The governments of Japan and South Korea are working together to strengthen cooperation in the procurement of liquefied natural gas (LNG) and related issues by holding dialogue sessions twice a year. They have recently concluded their first working-level meeting in Tokyo, where government officials involved have decided to work on boosting cooperation on joint LNG procurement by companies in Japan and South Korea, Mainichi Japan reported. They will also seek to obtain rights to develop gas fields abroad in a bid to cut costs on future LNG imports. Discussions following this will involve issues such as dealing with shale gas in North America and a collaboration to develop a gas field in Russia.
