DHL makes Pakistan investment

Pakistan - DHL is planning to pump US$9 million to strengthen its freight forwarding and supply chain operations in Pakistan.

The investment will go towards the upgrading of warehouses, fleet, offices, IT systems and employee training and development programmes.

"DHL Global Forwarding in Pakistan has grown exponentially over the last few years and the US$9 million investment reflects our continued confidence and commitment to the market," said Amadou Diallo, CEO of South Asia Pacific, DHL Global Forwarding.

Diallo made the announcement during the opening of DHL Global Forwarding Pakistan's new 15,000 sq ft building. The company added that in addition to air and ocean freight services as well as supply chain solutions, DHL Global Forwarding Pakistan will provide other services including integrated domestic warehousing, inventory management and distribution solutions, spare part logistics, records management services and in-house customs brokerage services.

Imran Shaikh, MD of DHL Global Forwarding Pakistan said: "We are confident business in Pakistan will continue to grow driven especially by imports and exports of apparel, footwear, chemicals and life sciences. In order for local businesses to compete effectively, it is important for Pakistan to have a comprehensive range of logistics service, to facilitate the movement of goods efficiently."
