Toyota to recall Prius
Japan - Toyota will recall nearly 300,000 Prius hybrid vehicles for faulty brakes, the latest in a series of recalls that are threatening to sully the automaker's brand.
The recall involves the latest model of the company's Prius car, after many complaints about malfunctioning brake systems, reported the Yomiuri Shimbun.
The paper added that the Prius recall, to repair a software programme for the anti-lock braking system designed to prevent skidding, is expected to affect some 270,000 vehicles in Japan and the US alone.
The recall is a new blow to the company, which just last week issued a recall of eight million cars due to sticky accelerator pedals. The recalls have caused significant damage on the brand that overtook General Motors as the top-selling automaker in 2008.
