DHL’s new route saves 24 hours

Global - DHL announces pioneering direct flight from Hong Kong to Surabaya four days a week, providing customers up to 24 hours of faster transit time.

"Hong Kong - Surabaya is an important trade lane for DHL because China is the largest supplier of non-oil and gas products to East Java, with the value amounting to US$202.62 million in October 2009," said David Ng, Senior Technical Advisor, DHL Express/PT Birotika Semesta.

With this new flight, it significantly enhances connectivity, service reliability and on-time performance for the increasing number of import cargo from Hong Kong to East Java, and also North Asia and US.

The Central Bureau of Statistics of East Java, reported an increased amount of import by 7.84% in October 2009 compared to September 2009, amounting to US$970.15 million. Major shipments were from China, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, and Taiwan.

DHL's renewed deal of US$6.99 million with Tie Rack till 2012 includes usage of the new consolidation centre in Hong Kong, for a shorter and quicker supply chain to Far East and Australasia markets.

Flight operates four days a week, every Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday.
