Glitch on Air France A380
AIR FRANCE AIRBUS MANUFACTURING
Global - Air France said a technical glitch forced its only A380 superjumbo to make a turnaround to JFK airport 90 minutes into a flight.
The Airbus plane suffered problems with its navigation system only days after the plane began flying across the Atlantic, Air France said.
"The plane is new and is still getting into its stride. It was a minor computer problem that made navigation a little imprecise," Air France spokesperson Nicolas Petteau said.
The A380 was on its New York-Paris route when it was forced to turn back. This is the second time than an A380 was forced to turn around in mid-flight, the first being an SIA A380 bound for Singapore from Paris in September.
Petteau said the superjumbo landed safely in New York and took off again after repairs three hours later.
