Airbus delays A380 delivery to MAS
Malaysia - Malaysia Airlines (MAS) will now receive its first Airbus A380 eight months later than scheduled at the plane maker's request.
MAS MD and CEO Azmil Zahruddin said the delivery of its first A380, scheduled for January 2011, has been pushed back to August of the same year.
"We never requested for the A380s to be delayed; all delays have been at Airbus' request," he told Dow Jones Newswires in an email.
The six aircraft were initially supposed to be delivered from January 2007, but problems in its production forced Airbus to push the schedule to January 2011.
A Singapore-based spokesperson for Airbus confirmed that the delivery schedule for MAS "has been revised", but declined to comment on the reason behind the delay.
