Philippines - DHL has inaugurated a Php40 million (approximately US$850,000) multi-user facility to cater to the Philippine market and a Fashion and Apparel Centre of Excellence in Pakistan to facilitate trade within the region, Europe and North America.

The new multi-user facility in the Philippines has been custom-built to suit the needs of key industries, increase operational efficiency and deliver flexible and optimal supply chain solutions to customers. DHL Supply Chain will be developing a multi-user bundling or co-packing area within the facility to address the requirements of Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) and Retail sectors.

The 40,000 sq m Logistics Centre is strategically located on along the South Luzon Expressway.

"As we are moving nearer to our customers, we expect to shorten their transit times as well as boost their time-to-market capabilities. It is by giving our customers the optimal logistics solutions that we can truly contribute to their success," said Olive Ramos, country manager, DHL Supply Chain Philippines.

The Philippine facility will also serve the Technology and Automotive sectors through the spare parts logistics service offering given its central location.

DHL also launched a Fashion and Apparel hub in Pakistan to facilitate growing trade between the region, Europe and North America.

Thomas Tieber, CEO, South Asia, DHL Global Forwarding said, "Pakistan has a competitive advantage as it is the fifth largest cotton producing country in the world. The establishment of "DHL Fashion and Apparel Centre of Excellence" will help customers meet the dynamic needs of the highly competitive fashion industry and will offer a slew of best-in-class services."

The centre in Pakistan will be staffed with a core team of industry experts and is responsible for developing bespoke products and solutions in addition to providing consultancy services to customers, DHL said.

Amadou Diallo, CEO of DHL Global Forwarding South Asia Pacific said, "South Asia is a key sourcing, manufacturing and distribution base for the global fashion industry. The logistics sector is worth over US$3.9 billion per annum, and it forms a critical component in the global supply chains of the world's best known brands."
