UPS RATE INCREASE RATE HIKE
Global - UPS said it will increase rates by 4.9% for all ground packages, air express and US origin international shipments in 2010.
The average increase effective 4 January, 2010 will include a 6.9% hike in the average base price along with a cut in the fuel surcharge index of two percentage points, UPS said.
On 4 January 2010, fuel surcharge tables for air express and ground services will also be adjusted to better align air and ground fuel surcharges, expected to substantially reduce the volatility of air surcharges when fuel prices fluctuate.
UPS said it will release its detailed guide to rates and services on 18 December, to provide information on rates, based on weight and distance that may vary sharply from the announced average rate increase.
