Airbus to keep delivery rates in 2010
Australia - Airbus CEO John Leahy said the company expects to maintain airplane delivery rates next year as it anticipates an economic rebound to revive travel demand.
Speaking at a briefing in Sydney, Leahy said the company is aiming to deliver a similar number of planes in 2008, 2009 and 2010, Bloomberg reported. Last year, the airplane manufacturer delivered 483 planes.
The 2010 number is based on estimates that air travel will grow as much as 5% next year on a global economic rebound, Leahy said. Worldwide international air travel fell 5.3% in the first nine months of the year, according to figures from the International Air Transport Association.
