Australia - The National Procurement Manager will ensure that the strategy links to and complements where necessary the overall business strategy ensuring a coherent and synchronised approach to divisional and group goals.

Role description:

Due to a major transformation which incorporates the optimisation of its assets, the business will embark on a 3 year strategy to establish the new profile, review the commercial business objectives, optimise the supply chain and develop a barrier to entry through supply chain initiatives that create true value.

Jigsaw Search have been engaged to source and vet a high calibre procurement professional to lead the effective procurement of raw materials and services critical to the success of the business. This newly created position (National Procurement Manager) creates and implements the procurement strategy for the raw materials (Packaging & Ingredients).

The National Procurement Manager will ensure that the strategy links to and complements where necessary the overall business strategy ensuring a coherent and synchronised approach to divisional and group goals. The National Procurement Manager will provide the leadership team with timely and accurate advice and guidance relevant to the achievement of Divisional goals and objectives. It is expected that Procurement will become a competitive advantage of the Division relative to our competitors in particular in manufactured product.

Key Accountabilities

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies for all necessary categories of expenditure
  • Conducting sourcing processes appropriate to business requirements and managing negotiations with suppliers in assigned categories
  • Work pro-actively with marketing and technical teams contributing accurate and timely information on competitive intelligence, supply source and raw materials costs to the product innovation process
  • Complete understanding of trends in key inputs and pro actively communicate with relevant stakeholders to assist in decision support, financial planning and forecasts

Challenges within the Position

  • Professional dealing and successful negotiations with all  suppliers
  • Raw material price movements not aligned with the timing of customer pricing adjustments
  • Rapid movements in either raw material prices or currency changes leading to variances to forecast and AOP assumptions
  • Create a coherent pan divisional procurement strategy
  • Create and execute a 3 year procurement plan
  • Leverage all major spends across the 3 production sites to ensure consistency of spend management and process control
