Trade Route Manager (Shipping / Freight Forwarding / Logistics)
Singapore - The successful candidate will oversee the intra-Asia, Australia and New Zealand trade routes and will be responsible for responding to tenders and RFQs to clinch contracts from regional and global customers.
Role description:
Our Client is a highly reputable Global MNC with offices worldwide. They are presently seeking for a versatile, meticulous & analytical and professional individual to join them.
- Responsible for responding to tenders and RFQs to clinch contracts from regional and global customers.
- In charge of Intra Asia, Australia and New Zealand trade route.
- Provide leadership in the areas of product and business development to achieve target carriers' adherence.
- Rate negotiation with carriers on trade specific port-port and nominated accounts.
- Understand country's needs and negotiate specific requirements with target carriers e.g. space protection / allocation.
- Yearly contract signing with the carriers and ensure fulfillment of MQC with the carriers.
- Provide leadership in the areas of product & business development to achieve target carriers' adherence.
- Develop and maintain relations with ocean freight carriers.
- Monitor weekly lifting and monthly budget reports which shows countries' performance and target carriers' adherence.
- Monitor key accounts' performance, rates and resolve any space/equipment issues.
- Develop and improve assigned trade lanes by research and innovative action.
- Ensure efficient flow of information concerning carriers' activities and market development to management.
- Provide updated information on carriers' situation and changes in ocean freight surcharges.
- Establish regular market information per trade to countries.
- Support countries in the Asia Pacific on rates and carriers' related issues.
- Communicate with overseas offices on day to day issues.
- Monitor key accounts' performance, rates and resolve any space/equipment issues.
- Develop and improve assigned trade lanes by research and innovative action.
- Ensure efficient flow of information concerning carriers' activities and market development to management.
- Provide guidance in rates updating to ensure accuracy and make it as user friendly as possible for the countries.
- Develop and maintain relations with global ocean freight carriers with head offices in Asia Pacific.
- Discuss and initiate actions to solve problem, eg space or equipment constraint.
- Suggest ways to improvise the system to facilitate data entry.

Requirements:
- Degree in Logistics, Maritime or Transportation Management with min. 5 years' broad experience in shipping, carriers, or freight forwarding background is required
- Prior experience in leading freight or logistics industry involving trade route management or key account management, preferably with supervisory and management skills.
- Good knowledge of ocean freight products & depth knowledge of carrier's functions.
- Acquired knowledge in general shipping matters (eg. documentation, claims, clearance, etc).
- Basic Logistics/Supply Chain Management knowledge is a bonus.
- Good ability to analyze problems effectively and find best solutions.
- Customer orientation, good people skills and able to work with people at all levels.
- Good interpersonal, communication, presentation and influencing skills.
- Dynamic, goal oriented and performance focus with believe of commitment to excel.
- Good planning & organizing, analytical & problem solving skills.
- High fluency in both spoken & written English and Mandarin.
- Ability to communicate in different dialects or foreign languages is an added advantage.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Applications.
- Preferably those who can commence work either IMMEDIATELY or within short notice!
