UPS takes the lead in carbon disclosure

Global - UPS is celebrating its inclusion into the 2008 Carbon Disclosure Leadership Index (CDLI), the only transportation company to make the list.

According to Carbon Disclosure Project, companies that make the index demonstrate the highest level of transparency and disclosure on climate change. Of the 300 Standard & Poor companies that responded to the request to be included, less than 20% are recognised in the index.

"Good corporate governance in respect of climate change disclosure will inevitably reap its rewards," commented Paul Dickinson, Chief Executive of the Carbon Disclosure Project. "As carbon regulation increases, those companies that have implemented climate change-related strategies are clearly going to be in a far better position to meet the challenge of higher carbon prices than companies that have procrastinated. Good disclosure practices are synonymous with good management."
