Global - AeroLogic, the joint cargo airline of Lufthansa and DHL Express will commence service on 29 June 2009.

AeroLogic will begin operations with eight Boeing 777 freighter jets. An additional four planes will be added to the fleet by the end of 2010.

DHL is expected operate express services on a Leipzig-Bahrain-Singapore-Delhi-Leipzig rotation on weekdays, while Lufthansa Cargo will operate on a Leipzig-Tashkent-Hong Kong-Tashkent-Leipzig loop on weekends.

The company expects traffic between Europe and Asia to increase by 5% annually once an economic recovery is fully underway, media sources reported.

"The global logistics market will pick up quickly as soon as the first signs of an economic rebound appear," said Frank Appel, CEO of Deutsche Post.

By 2010, AeroLogic plans to offer new direct connections to most of Asia's major cities.
