UTi names UPS executive as CEO
Global - UTi Worldwide has appointed former president of freight forwarding at UPS Supply Chain Solutions Eric W Kirchner as CEO, to replace retiring Roger MacFarlane.
Kirchner is expected to succeed MacFarlane on or about January 19.
MacFarlane, 63, will serve as a transitional role through April 2009, at which time he will retire but remain a member of the board of directors and non-executive chairman.
"Eric's deep industry knowledge and experience will be invaluable to the company as we continue to grow our business and improve financial performance, develop our role as an industry leader in client centricity and implement appropriate responses to current economic challenges," MacFarlane said.
Kirchner, 49, joins the company from UPS when it acquired Menlo Worldwide Forwarding in 2004 where he served as COO. He brings with him over 27 years of experience in the transportation and logistics industry.
